I have been down in the dumps lately about some things, but nothing like a little recogintion to get me back in spirits right? right? right?

Let's see, did you know that I am an author, of like a freakin BOOK? I finally got my hands on the book that Suzy, Krista and Michelle worked on and I am so happy about it. It's called Scrapbooks on the Go and Design Originals published it. It is so stinkin awesome to see your work in a BOOK...sorry about the caps, I just cannot help it! Here is a picture of the cover (I stole it from Suzy's Blog):

No time to rest though, gotta get cracking on the next one :)

I got the new scrapbook answers today (august/september) and I was really looking forward to this one because I did a step-by-step article with canvas. I am really proud of this project. I also have a layout in the Eye On Design section, and a makeover....really stoked about this issue. Here is the first page of my article:

So....all in all, while I am a bit disappointed in somethings I am forever and eternally grateful for the opportunities that I do have. I'll be at CHA in Chicago in a few days, if you are there, please come visit at the Canvas Concepts booth, we have the BEST projects and our booth always ROCKS. See you soon!

and it's kinda wierd. I mean, I like being on my own...not having to answer to anyone, being able to be a tad bit messy without feeling bad, but I have to admit...I am a little lonely sometimes. I don't see Lawrence as much as I would like, we both have the worst schedules. Working at the library, I have to work 2 nights a week and he works at least 2 24 hour shifts a week too...it's just hard. I miss him tons.

On to happier things, there are SOOO many people getting married in the next few months, unfortunately I am not one of them. I can't wait until we can set a date and get this thing rolling! My step-sister (who I consider my sister) is getting married September 9th, my coworker...who totally rocks by the way...is getting married September 30th, and Lizz...my favorite scrappin buddy...is getting married in December. Wowza, I better get to shopping. Weddings are so much fun.

Let's see, on the scrapping front...not too much going on. I am waiting patiently for the August/September issue of Scrapbook Answers because I have a few things in there, especially an awesome canvas project. I love it when I can use canvas concepts on a project...I also have a layout and a makeover in that issue....so when you see it, think of me! I am getting all squared away with CHA...finally have our flight and hotels booked. The best part of CHA is meeting people. I love to see people IRL that I have only met online, especially scrappers. It's so great to put a name to the face. CKU was in San Jose this past week and at first I was really bummed that I didn't sign up, but I was still able to go for a bit when I got to help Allison and Hambly at their make n take table. It was really fun...did you know the ink in their paper has vanilla in it? If you were at the make n take table you do, LOL! I told everyone that because I think it is such a cool little tidbit of info. Well, it's almost 11pm and I haven't eaten dinner...I should really get started on that :)

to move out. I know, it's crazy! Why the heck would I want to move out when I have such a fabulous family and I can save so much money? I mean, if I want to stay in the bay area, I should probably get on the ball and start saving the billion dollars I need just to have a house. I don't even really have an answer. I'm getting married in a bit and I guess I want to see what it's like to be on my own before then. Is that wierd? I hope not.

What this has really made me realize is that I have a whole lotta stuff, especially books. I know that seems obvious me being a librarian and all, but after 3 boxes I still wasn't full! I couldn't even bear to part with my copy of Captain Underpants!

As for scrappin, things are going pretty good. I haven't really been submitting much at all lately because I have been so darn busy with my two kit clubs, LSS DT and the scrapbook answers DT...not to mention a little secret I am holding in :) Oh yea...I gotta pack my scraproom too, that should be...uh...exciting. Stuft Pizza: Lets just say that I will NEVER EVER EVER work with food again. Really, let's just leave it at that. The thought of coming home smelling like italian sausage will never appeal to me again!
Santa Clara City Library (children's librarian): I just LOVE this place, I have been here for 10 years, and I really am holding on in hopes of a full time, benefited job, OH PLEASE....someday this must happen!
Morgan Hill Library (teen librarian): I just got this job a few months ago, but really I am in love. The people are awesome, the county policies and procedures are right in line with what I believe.
Student: I mean this really was my job for so long that I had to add it :)

Four movies you would watch over and over again:

Teen Witch: Ever hear of it? probably not...but it was the classic sleepover movie when I was in Junior High, what is so darn cool, is that my brother actually got it for me for christmas this year, can you believe it!
Goonies: no real reason, just love it.
Nightmare Before Christmas/Corpse Bride: really, any animated Tim Burton film, I just love em!
Pirates of the Carribean: Love that Johnny Depp

Four places you have lived:

Weisbaden, Germany: I was born here, I only lived there for about 2 weeks while my mom was in a military hospital.
Incrilink (sp?), Turkey: My father was stationed here for a few years when I was just a wee lad.
Santa Clara, CA: Been here ever since...love the bay area, really, I have yet to find a place I love more.

Family Guy: No question, best animated show on TV.
Dog, the Bounty Hunter: I know...it's crazy but I freakin love this show! It's on really late at night when I am scrapping :)
ER: I have been watching this show for over 10 years now and it really does still excite me. It's the only show that I have regularly watched all this time.
SportsCenter: A nightly staple.

Vancouver and Victoria: Incredible places...my honeymoon is so going to be in British Columbia
Alaska: Amazing scenery, best cruise I ever took...well only cruise I ever took, but I still could have hated it!

time for another monthly post :) I promise, one of of these days I may branch out to a weekly post, but I most certainly not making any promises!

Lets see...what has happened to me lately...

had the best stinking christmas every, Lawrence asked me to marry him! How cool is that? and the ring...it really is incredible. I am so proud of him and what he chose, he really does know me.
I am plugging along at work, almost at 40 hours a week now, I finally feel like I have a full time job, it's actually a strange feeling.
Scrapbookwise, I got the BEST news today... I mean the BEST NEWS. For the three people that read this blog and don't know a thing about scrapbooking (living under a rock obviously), I was chosen with a bunch of other fabulous scrappers, to be part of the VERY FIRST design team for SCRAPBOOK ANSWERS magazine. Even as I type this I can't believe it! I am so excited, I can't wait to get my assignments and really, it is such an incredible opprotunity and I am immensly grateful.
Only a few more weeks and I am on the plane to CHA in vegas. I have never been to a craft/scrapbooking show of this magnitude...but I am so excited to meet people.

Okay, really...why do I even have a blog when I only blog once a month? I don't know! I am determined to keep this up really....I mean, no one is reading this right?? What's so sad is that the only reason I am updating this is because it's part of an excercise I am doing during a training session!

Anywho, as far as scrapbooking, I have a VERY exciting thing coming up and I can't wait to spill the beans...but until I get the okay, I have to keep it under wraps. I also have my eye set on a few contests. I tried out for the Polar Bear Press DT, I really enjoyed working with their papers...but I haven't had any good luck when it comes to manufacture DT's. I also sent in an entry for the scrapbook answers DT, but I think the competition will be very stiff. A girl can dream, right?

I am really diggin' my style lately, lots of stitching. I finally feel comfortable using the zig zag stich and I just can't stop! Now all I have to do is learn how to change threads and such so that I dont' have to scream "mommy!" when I need to change colors! I am going to a LSS today, they are having an awesome sale. 25% off your entire purchase AND your frequent buyer discount. Tonight is the preview sales for all us high rollers (1500 or more spent, yikes!). I am hoping not to spend too much, seeing as I don't really need much of anything! Thanks for readin' :)

Wowza...is this thing still on?

So, I swear...I am going to keep up with this...just so Court can change the description of my blog..on her blog :)

I finally finished all of my job interviews, although it seems I am going to have to wait FOREVER to find out what is going on with them. My nerves are completely shot, and I think that may be why I had a total panic attack at work yesterday. There are some coworkers that really got under my skin and I think that, combined with this kinda mean patron, and all the interview stress just took it's toll.

(sidebar)...if you are going to work with the public (library in this case), you have to care about people...and you HAVE to have some sort of compassion. I don't mean that you have to always go out of your way for people, but if you don't genuinely want to help...then don't work with people. I only say this because it's obvious to people and coworkers when you don't care about patrons....(sidebar)

Sorry about that, just had to type it!

As for scrapping, I have been able to punch out a few decent layouts lately. I am going to put up my 2 favorites here. I was able to get some awesome shots of my goddaughter and her best budy Jake...they are so cute together. I notice that when I get some really great photos, my creativity goes way up. I haven't really gotten any calls for layouts lately, but I think that is because I am totally lagging on the submitting...just getting lazy. I have one of my fav layouts coming out in the November issue of Scrapbook Answers...keep an eye out for it.

I sent my Drebel in...and they got it and are fixing it...I hope to get it soon, I really miss it.

I'm finally back from DL...

I am back from the happiest place on earth and man...it was so freakin hot in so cal. I mean I live in nor cal, and I can't believe the difference in temperature, really makes me appreciate my foggy mornings! I got to see some friends from CKU-M Anaheim and that was fun, we took a class from Teresa Collins who is really, one of my favorite teachers. She is really sweet, and she remember my name, WOOHOO! I hope she comes up to scrapbook territory to teach a class soon.

I took a ton of pictures, but I am a little bummed out because my digital rebel just stopped working! I can't even get it to turn on, and I just bought it in May. I think I am going to have to send it back to either the website I bought it at, or Canon...I hope it can get fixed because I love that camera.

Anywho, thats all for now, I have to get back to work.

and I am totally not prepared AT ALL. I have so much stuff to do it's ridiculous. I have to finish up my projects for the book before I go, write my BIO for the new DT and complete at least 2 more projects for this months kit AND work tonight. I know, I'm cookoo for cocoa puffs. Then at some point, I have to pack. sigh...

I really think that my dog is getting sick, and noone believes me. He is really lathargic, and I swear he is having little siezures, but my mom responds "he seems fine to me". Short of calling the vet myself, I don't know what to do!

I finished up this layout last night, another one about my trip to Alaska and Canada. I really want to do a whole album, but I can't get inspired. Every once in awhile one of the photos will inspire me, like this one. I LOVE the new scrapworks Ethan Kate line, and the Christina Cole stikers....yeah, I know.....stickers....are awesome. Anywho, better get going! TTYL

I finally scrapped my mom, I mean I have been scrapping forever, and I never did a layout about my mom. I still have to complete some sort of journaling in the big empty circle I am sure. Not crazy about it though, Love the papers. I just got inspired pretty late this night when I really should be packing...sigh...

Sigh...so, this is my first entry into my second attempt at some sort of blog. I hope to talk mostly about scrappin and such, but I have a feeling some other aspects of my life will seep in.

I work at 3 public libraries right now, and at one we had a tragedy this past weekend. A nineteen year old page was in a horrific car accident. Her and 3 other people were in a car that plunged down a 300 foot revine (sp?). She and the driver survived, but two others didn't...one of them was her brother. She has serious head injuries and unfortunately has no idea that her brother has passed. The two young men were not wearing their seatbelts. After I heard this I began thinking how I always put on my seatbelt without even thinking about it, I just get in my car and put it on. I wonder why they didn't do it that night...sigh...

I am leaving for Disneyland in a few days, going to see the 50th anniversary and stuff. The MOST exciting this is that I get to see some friends that I met at CKU-M anaheim, and I get to take a Teresa Collins class at Scrapbook Oasis. That is going to be fun. TTYL!
